LIFT
TRUCK
INSTRUCTOR - 10 days:
CSC
appreciate the needs for a company to have their candidates successfully
complete the instructors course, therefore, when choosing a candidate for
this course certain qualities should be identified during the candidate
selection process.
Operating
skills as well as enthusiasm should be key factors in the candidate
selection process, the candidate must hold a valid lift truck operators
license and be a frequent user of counterbalanced fork lift trucks.
Lift Truck Instructor
Examination
This covers the examination of:

Practical lift truck
operating skills
-
Practical instructional
abilities
-
Associated knowledge
-
In-class teaching practices
On completion of an accredited
instructor training course independent and impartial RTITB examiners will
provide an objective examination of each candidate's instructional abilities
against strict criteria.
Candidates not meeting the
required standard are informed of the main areas of weakness in performance
to allow for structured remedial training.
Successful candidates are
eligible for inclusion in the RTITB National Register of qualified
instructors for a five year period.
Instructor Registration
Scheme
This scheme is open to all lift
truck instructors who have been trained at an RTITB accredited lift truck
centre and have been successful in both the theory and practical elements of
the RTITB examination.
Registered instructors are
issued with a certificate and identification badge as evidence of
qualification and registration.
Registered instructors will be
able to:

Obtain a nationally
recognised professional qualification

Demonstrate a proven
standard of instructional techniques
-
Provide documentary evidence
of their achievements
-
Provide competence based
training for trainee operators to agreed standards
-
Set up conduct and
objectively mark Practical Skills Tests
-
Issue certificates of Basic
Training to lift truck operators
-
Identify the causes of poor
operating practice and provide remedial instruction
The instructors registration is
valid for 5 years following which a re-registration course (3 or 5 days) and
examination is required.

NOVICE - 5 days:
The
course is designed for operatives with no or little experience in the safe
operation of lift trucks; the course will include theory and practical
training.
On the final day of the course the operative will carry out a
theory and practical skills test, successful candidates, or the employer,
will be issued with a lift truck operators certificate of basic training
accredited by the RTITB.
AIM:
-
To
provide instruction and training in the safe operation of lift trucks.
-
To
give the operative a basic level of training to safely operate lift
trucks with regard to manufacturers recommendations and health and
safety guidance.
-
The
operative shall understand the main causes of lift truck instability
and corrective actions required to prevent this occurrence.
-
The
operative will have a thorough understanding of routine pre-start
checks of the machine and batteries.
-
The
operative shall have a good knowledge of safe mechanical handling
techniques in relation to lift trucks.
-
The
operative shall confidently stack and de-stack pallets at high and low
levels.
PREREQUISITES:

BASIC - 2.5 days:
The
course is designed for operatives with previous experience in the
operation of lift trucks but has no certificated evidence of formal
training.
The course will include theory and practical training.
On the final day of the course the operative will carry out a
theory and practical skills test, successful candidates, or the employer,
will be issued with a lift truck operators certificate of basic training
accredited by the RTITB.
AIM:

To
provide instruction and training in the safe operation of lift trucks.

To
give the operative a basic level of training to safely operate lift
trucks with regard to manufacturers recommendations and health and
safety guidance.

The
operative shall understand the main causes of lift truck instability
and corrective actions required to prevent this occurrence.

operative will have a thorough understanding of routine pre-start
checks of the machine and batteries.

The
operative shall have a good knowledge of safe mechanical handling
techniques in relation to lift trucks.

The
operative shall confidently stack and de-stack pallets at high and low
levels.
PREREQUISITES:

LIFT
truck CONVERSION / FAMILIARISATION
- 1 day:
The
course is designed for certificated who wish to operate a different type
of lift truck and/or attachments. On
the final day of the course the operative will carry out a theory and
practical skills test, successful candidates, or the employer, will be
issued with a lift truck operators certificate of basic training
accredited by the RTITB.
AIM:
-
To
provide instruction and training in the safe operation of lift trucks.
-
To
give the operative a basic level of training to safely operate lift
trucks withregard to manufacturers recommendations and health and
safety guidance.
-
The
operative shall understand the main causes of lift truck instability
and corrective actions required to prevent this occurrence.
-
The
operative will have a thorough understanding of routine pre-start
checks of the machine and batteries.
-
The
operative shall have a good knowledge of safe mechanical handling
techniques in relation to lift trucks.
-
The
operative shall confidently stack and de-stack pallets at high and low
levels.
PREREQUISITES:
-
The
operative should be medically fit to carry out the course.
-
Candidates
must be 17 years of age or above.
-
Proof
of formal training on forklift/reach trucks.
-
Previously
attained certification must be produced prior to training being
carried out.

LIFT
TRUCK RE-CERTIFICATION / REFRESHER - 1
day:
The
course is designed for certificated operatives who feel they would benefit
from refresher training in the safe operation of lift trucks.
Upon successful completion of the course the operative/employer
will be issued with a certificate of basic training.
AIM:
-
To
provide instruction and training in the safe operation of lift trucks.
-
To
give the operative a basic level of training to safely operate lift
trucks with regard to manufacturers recommendations and health and
safety guidance.
-
The
operative shall understand the main causes of lift truck instability
and corrective actions required to prevent this occurrence.
-
The
operative will have a thorough understanding of routine pre-start
checks of the machine and batteries.
-
The
operative shall have a good knowledge of safe mechanical handling
techniques in relation to lift trucks.
-
The
operative shall confidently stack and de-stack pallets at high and low
levels.
PREREQUISITES:

TRAINING
AT YOUR PREMISES.
-
Maximum
of three operatives per course, the course commences at 0900hrs
through 1600hrs.
Please note the following requirements of the instructor prior
to commencement of the course:
-
Sufficient
empty pallets and materials for stacking.
-
Accommodation
to be used as a temporary classroom for theory tuition.
-
Area
to which training can be conducted away from work activities,
approximately 25' x 80'.
Could be free standing racking system.
-
Operatives
should not be expected to carry out work activities whilst on the
training program.
-
The
lift truck must be maintained in good order and free from defect.
-
Current
certificate of fitness for the lift truck.
