All aspects of lifting and slinging are covered along with compliance requirements of laws and statutes pertaining to lifting equipment and appliances.  Upon successful completion of the course, the operative/employer will be issued with a certificate of basic training.

  AIM:

  • To provide instruction and training in safe lifting and slinging techniques.

  • To identify potential hazards associated with lifting equipment and operations.

  • To have an understanding of various laws and statutes pertaining to lifting operations.

  • Acquire an understanding of operating angles for lifting gear.

  • Be able to maneuvre a load with the aid of lifting equipment/machinery.

  • Be competent in the selection and use of lifting gear.

  • Carry out pre-start checks and the reporting process.

  PREREQUISITES:

  • The operative should be medically fit to carry out the course.

  • Have a basic understanding of lifting and slinging.

TRAINING AT YOUR PREMISES.

The course commences at 0900hrs through 1600hrs.  Please note the following requirements of the instructor prior to commencement of the course:

  • Accommodation to be used as a temporary classroom for theory tuition.

  • Area to which training can be conducted away from work activities.

  • Operatives should not be expected to carry out work activities whilst on the training program.

  • The crane must be maintained in good order and free from defect.

  • Current certificate of fitness for the crane and attachments.
