Basic Rigging

All aspects of safe lifting, slinging and rigging are covered along with compliance requirements of laws and statutes pertaining to lifting equipment and appliances.

On successful completion of the course delegates or the employer will be issued with a basic certificate of attendance and formal training. 

Aim:

  • To give potential banksman, slingers and riggers an in depth knowledge of safe lifting, slinging and rigging techniques.

  • To prove a basic level of competency in this field.

Learning Objectives:

After the course delegates should:

  • have a basic knowledge of relevant laws and statutes.

  • be able to assess risks and hazards present.

  • have an understanding of safe operation of plant and machinery.

  • have acquired an understanding of safe lifting, rigging and slinging techniques.

  • have acquired an understanding of safe working angles and their importance.

  • be capable of adopting a proactive attitude toward safety.

  • be capable of moving/transferring a load from A to B with the aid of rigging gear

Prerequisites:

  • The operative should be medically fit to carry out the course.

  • Have a basic understanding of rigging, lifting and slinging.

Course Content:

  • Legislation.

  • Identification and Certification.

  • Lifting equipment

  • Safe operating angles

  • Runway beams inspection and use.

  • Padeyes, beam clamps and trolleys.

  • Slings, shackles and eyebolts.

  • Man Made Fiber Slings

  • Hand signals.

  • Colour coding

  • Practical skills
