COSHH

The course is designed for operatives who use or handle COSHH related substances, upon completion of the course the candidate/employer will be issued with a certificate of basic training.

AIM:

To ensure delegates gain an appreciation of the nature of COSHH related substances and understand their legal and moral obligations under laws and statutes.  Delegates will be introduced to the risk assessment process, procedures and the permit-to-work system.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

On completion of the course delegates should have an understanding of:

• the fundamental principles of  COSHH.

• potential effects of the substances in use.

• likely routs of entry into the body.

• risk assessments, monitoring and health surveillance.

• exposure risks.

• control measures.

• emergency procedures.

• legal obligations.

PREREQUISITES:

• The operative should be medically fit to carry out the course.

• Have a basic understanding of hazardous substances.

TRAINING AT YOUR PREMISES.

The course commences at 0900hrs through 1600hrs.  Please note the following requirements of the instructor prior to commencement of the course:

• Accommodation to be used as a temporary classroom for theory tuition.

• Area to which training can be conducted away from work activities.

• Operatives should not be expected to carry out work activities whilst on the training program.
