Basic
Risk Assessment
The
course is designed for operatives who may be required to carry out risk
assessments.
Upon successful completion of the course, the operative/employer
will be issued with a certificate of basic training.
AIM:
-
To
provide an understanding of the risk assessment process.
-
To
give an insight into safety management systems.
-
To
provide information to candidates enabling them to carry out a risk
assessment.
LEARNING
OBJECTIVES:
On
completion of the course delegates should:
-
have
an understanding of the various stages of risk assessment.
-
know
the definitions of terms such as accident, hazard, risk, safe and
danger.
-
be
able to break work down into tasks, activities, items of plant,
materials, etc.
-
be
able to identify hazards.
-
be
able to identify persons affected by those hazards.
-
be
able to qualitatively analyse the likelihood and severity of risk.
-
be
able to apply the principles of control.
-
be
able to evaluate the risk based on the control measures provided.
-
Be
able to record the findings of the assessment and prepare an action
plan.
PREREQUISITES:
TRAINING
AT YOUR PREMISES.
The
course commences at 0900hrs through 1600hrs.
Please note the following requirements of the instructor prior to
commencement of the course:

Accommodation
to be used as a temporary classroom for theory tuition.
-
Area
to which training can be conducted away from work activities.
-
Operatives
should not be expected to carry out work activities whilst on the
training program.
